Launch seeks to equip disciples to live life on mission. It is for people seeking to invest in their relationship with God in an intentional way for a year, and to let God transform them as disciples, empower them as leaders, and model to them how to live missional lives. It is specifically aimed at young adults (18-25yrs) but anyone can apply. It’s a great year for those seeking to grow as disciples, own their faith journey, journey with other passionate young adults and discern God’s call on their life.
Each student is expected to participate in the community aspects of the year, which happen as part of our time together weekly, and also include two retreats. These are key times for growth together as a community as you seek to encourage each other and support each other in your faith journey.
As part of this year you will be involved in a discipleship group, as well as receive individual mentoring and coaching so that you can grow into the person God is calling you to be. As people invest in you, we will be encouraging you to invest in others, to grow to be a disciple who makes disciples.
Several units of study will be undertaken as part of Launch. There are 4 subjects: Missional Discipleship, Patterns of Spiritual Formation, Evangelism Field Education and Foundational Christian Beliefs. These subjects are further explained in the Prospectus, which is available to download below. It is the student’s choice as to whether they take part in the assessment of these subjects or choose to not be credited and simply audit the class.
Participants will be involved in missional communities or other incarnational and missional opportunities in their sending church. In order to extend our participants beyond their usual circumstances we will be heading away together for two weeks to Central Australia to work in an Indigenous community. This trip will be a key part of our year, helping participants to bond as a group, while giving them real experiences of discipleship, leadership and mission outside their usual context. We will be working in both a local school and church context, seeking to serve and bless those we meet.
