Studying at The Discipleship Institute
In partnership with Melbourne School of Theology (MST), The Discipleship Institute is able to offer, teach and assess for Australian College of Theology accreditation. We offer specific 'in-context' learning through these accredited units of study.
In 2018, The Discipleship Institute is offering two evening classes; both in second semester. "Evangelism Field Education" will be offered for those currently engaging in a ministry context and "New Testament: Jesus and the Gospels" will be conducted on Wednesday evenings 7 to 9.30 pm at St Barnabas Ministry Centre, Glen Waverley. If you would like to express an interest in either classes please fill in the contact form below.
Evangelism Field Education
At the end of this unit, the student will be able to outline some of the issues involved in evangelistic ministry and the nature and value of specific preparation for such ministry. The will include practical outcomes through on the ground ministry involvement and will enable participants to have opportunities to demonstrate the importance of interpersonal relationships in ministry, the cross cultural nature of ministry, and the importance of theological reflection in this context.
At the end of this unit students will have gained an understanding the contents, themes and character of the canonical Gospel traditions and had the opportunity to study deeply the life and ministry of Jesus, and how this shapes their life and ministry in today's context. This subject will be taught on Wednesday nights from 7 - 9:30pm, and will be offered at Bachelor and Masters level.
